Privacy Policy
This page explains what information this website collects, what happens when you book an appointment, and who to contact with questions. It's written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

What This Website Collects
This website has no contact form, no newsletter sign-up, no search box, and no other input field anywhere on it. There is nothing to type into, so there is nothing for us to collect, store, or transmit. Browsing this site — reading pages, looking at our services, or checking hours — does not create any record with us.
The salon itself does hold some information about clients, but none of it comes from this website — it comes from booking an appointment. What that is, and how long it is kept, is set out below.
Booking an Appointment
When you choose to book online, this website sends you to Square's own hosted booking flow. From that point on, your details are collected and handled directly by Square, not by us. What Square holds from a booking is your name, phone number and email address, along with the appointment itself — what you booked and when.
Booking does not involve a payment. There is no deposit and nothing to pay up front; you pay in the salon at your appointment. Those in-salon payments are processed by Square as well, so Square also holds a record of what was paid — but that is a separate record from your booking, created at the till rather than when you book.
Square is the processor; Modern Touch Beauty Salon is the organisation accountable for that information, which means a question about it can come to us even though Square is where it is stored. Square's own privacy policy (opens in a new tab) governs how that information is collected, used, and protected. If you have a question about information you gave Square while booking, Square is the right place to ask it.
If you book by phone or in person instead, the same principle applies: your appointment is recorded in Square by our staff, not stored on this website.
What the Salon Keeps, and For How Long
Booking records are kept by Square, and Square retains them under its own terms.
Separately, the salon keeps a paper appointment book at the front desk, with clients' names and appointment times in it. That book is replaced roughly every three months. It is the one place the salon holds personal information directly rather than through Square, and we would rather say so plainly than leave it out.
We Don't Share Your Information
Client information is not shared with anyone. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or pass it to advertisers, marketing companies, or other businesses.
We Don't Send Marketing Messages
The salon does not send marketing texts or emails. Giving us your phone number or email when you book does not put you on a list. The only messages you may receive are the appointment reminders Square sends about an appointment you actually made.
How This Site Is Hosted
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which serves the pages to your browser whenever you visit. That means your request for a page passes through Cloudflare's network before it reaches you, and — as with any web host — Cloudflare handles connection information such as your IP address in order to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks. That processing is Cloudflare's, governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy (opens in a new tab), not something the salon collects or keeps.
The site runs no executable JavaScript, no analytics, no tracking software, and no visitor measurement of any kind — not Cloudflare's analytics, not Google Analytics, and no advertising or tracking service. (Each page does include one inert block of structured data that helps search engines understand our business listing; it never runs any code and never collects anything.) Because nothing is tracked, no cookie-consent banner is needed.
With no tracking mechanism at all, there is nothing on this site that can follow you across websites or build a profile of your visits.
Cookies
We set no cookies. This site has no analytics, no tracking, and no code that could set one — so there is no cookie of ours for you to accept or refuse, and no consent banner to click. Cloudflare, as our host, may set strictly necessary cookies for security purposes; that is Cloudflare's own processing under its policy above, not something the salon controls, reads, or uses. If you click through to Square, Instagram, or Google Maps, whatever cookies those sites set are theirs, governed by their own policies, not ours.
Fonts
The typefaces used on this site are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from Google Fonts or any other third-party font service. Visiting this site never sends a request to a font provider.
Links to Other Websites
This site links out to a few other websites: Square (to book an appointment), Instagram (our social page), and Google Maps (for directions). Once you follow one of those links, you're on that company's own website, and their privacy policy — not this one — applies to whatever happens there.
Your Privacy Rights
Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) generally gives you the right to ask an organization what personal information it holds about you, and to have inaccurate information corrected.
This website itself collects nothing, so there is nothing it holds to ask about. Where your information does exist, it is in two places: your booking record with Square, and — if you have had an appointment — your name and appointment time in the salon's paper appointment book.
